What do you get when you pair an amazing and awesomely creative bunch of Gen Zs (Zoomers) with awesome mobile devices? Awesome content and all-round great stories and entertainment.
That’s exactly the recipe for creating awesome – putting Zoomers and the Galaxy A Series together. #BehindTheAwesome, which is set to rollout exclusively on Samsung digital platforms, was created to celebrate and unpack the magnificent stories of awesome South African Gen Zs.
Entrepreneur and designer, Nicole Ncube, Creative film director, Lindokuhle Langa and Tik Tok and music extraordinaire, Khanyisa Jaceni all have one thing in common, they’re young, hip, happening, on the move and love what their mobile devices allow them to do all in the name of self-expression and chasing their respective passions.
These free-spirited, expressive, unconfined, young digital natives are all agreed about the things that are most important in what their handsets should give them; good battery life, a quality camera to capture great videos and pictures and decent storage for their awesome content.
Despite losing her job at the height of Covid-19, Tik Toker Khanyisa refused to be defeated. She used her phone to launch herself a new career as a content creator on social media. Inspired, trendy and humorous, awesome is what she is and does. “As a content creator, my mission is to keep inspiring and empowering young people to go for their dreams,” she says.

Filmmaker Lindo says he wants to tell authentic stories and have fun while doing it and his device helps him do just that. He says his life gets quite busy and moving from production to production means a 16-hour set day is often on the cards, and it helps to have a phone with a reliable battery. “A two-day battery life is the kind of thing that makes my life so convenient because I can just use it and go and it’s always ready for me,” states Lindo.

Designer Nicole reckons the most awesome feature her phone could have is to literally bring food to her, but seeing as we’re a long way off from that, she’s just happy that it has an awesome camera, long-lasting battery life and can help her wake up every morning courtesy of the 7h30am alarm she’s set. While she enjoys Instagram on her phone, she also likes YouTube videos and says, “I watch the weirdest things on it so the coolest one would have to be a pimple-popping video,” quips Nicole.

These Zoomers may all be walking different paths but what’s undeniable is that ‘Awesome is what they are all doing!’ They have made strides in their chosen fields but they’re only warming up and the galaxy is their limit.
