Samsung UK Presents the First-Ever Live Streamed Gaming Event on London’s 3D Piccadilly Screen

LONDON, UK – December 2023 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Has unveiled a first-of-its-kind gaming event, live-streamed to London’s iconic Piccadilly screen.

Renowned gaming streamers Vatira and Apparently Jack went head-to-head on 15th December at Samsung’s London KX store, playing the vehicular football game Rocket League, to battle for the title of Samsung Gaming Hub Champion.

Partnering with Cheil, Samsung’s Gaming Hub Challenge feat. Rocket League took digital out of home (DOOH) to a new level, using Ocean Outdoor’s DeepScreen® Alive technology for the first time to accommodate live reactions from spectators directly into the livestream experience.

As they watched, Piccadilly Circus audiences were able to share their reactions, using their mobile phones to scan a QR code to access a microsite and select an emoji reaction which instantly appeared up on the big screen.

“We are pushing the boundaries to create engaging customer experiences, showcasing our Gaming Hub capabilities in an incredible 3D display on London’s Piccadilly Screen. We want to encourage people to enjoy and embrace gaming, whether you’re a novice or pro-level – gaming is for everyone. Our Gaming Hub provides thousands of games at your fingertips, and we’re delighted to bring this to life on such an iconic London landmark” said Gus Grimaldi, Head of Product, Europe, Samsung Electronics.

Donna Buckingham, Head of Business, Cheil, added: “We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with Samsung to launch the first-ever livestreamed gaming event on the iconic 3D Piccadilly Circus screen. Whether watching online or visiting the Piccadilly screen, fans can enjoy cheering on their gaming hero, experiencing a first-of-its-kind event that positions the Samsung Gaming Hub as the heart of gaming.”
