Great Expectations: Research Shows That Reading Has A Positive Impact On The Nation
LONDON, UK – 26th March 2024 – To celebrate the nation’s reading revolution, Samsung has partnered with author and broadcaster, Nick Grimshaw, to open a new pop-up experience ‘The Creative Station’ powered by the Galaxy Tab S9 Series, the ultimate reading and storytelling companion. The immersive space is set to inspire the nation to read, create, and share.
The launch coincides with research revealing 86% of the nation say that reading can have a positive impact on their life. Whilst over half (57%) of Brits use reading as a key source of inspiration, and a quarter (26%) have made a significant life change after a good read.
Open for two weeks, this one-of-a-kind experience will allow commuters to explore their creative side through a series of interactive workshops and activities, such as the Book Tab Club hosted by YouTube star Freya Nightingale, set to motivate people as they wait for their train.
Passers by will be able to tuck into a host of recommended reads, and feel inspired to create their own unique note for a friend, in partnership with Londoner and renowned street artist Notes to Strangers. Or, working alongside The Metro, visitors can share their Rush Hour Crush live directly from the Galaxy Tab S9 Series.
Helping to further empower the nation’s love for storytelling, broadcaster and self-confessed bookworm, Nick Grimshaw, known for his acclaimed coming-of-age autobiography ‘Soft Lad’, said: “Reading has so many benefits – it’s something I try and make time for every day when I can. It not only helps me relax, it helps me be creative and try new things, whether that’s taking my hand to writing or exploring a new place. The study from Samsung revealed that more than eight in 10 (82%) of Brits would never travel without having something to read. It also revealed the transformative power of reading, which extends beyond just inspiration. In fact, a quarter (25%) of the UK are likely to try something new after reading about it; with travelling somewhere new (26%), and learning a new language (10%) topping the list of book-led pursuits.
What’s more, 77% say that reading makes them feel relaxed, and for nearly half of the UK (49%), reading has the power to make them happier, showcasing its well-being benefits.
