Samsung Canada earns twelfth consecutive award from ENERGY STAR® Canada for continued environmental leadership

Samsung Electronics Canada is proud to announce it has received its twelfth consecutive award from ENERGY STAR Canada, a program of Natural Resources Canada, for its continued contributions to protecting the environment. Recognized this year with the 2022 Special Recognition Award, Samsung Canada remains committed to promoting products as energy efficient options for consumers and businesses.

“As part of Samsung’s ‘Together for Tomorrow’ vision, we are dedicated to ensuring everyday sustainability throughout our product portfolio and playing a role in reimagining a better planet,” said Pat Bugos, Senior Vice President of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics Canada. “We are honoured to be recognized by ENERGY STAR Canada once again, marking our continued success in energy efficiency from products to operations.”

“Enhancing energy efficiency is key to working towards our ambitious climate goals, while creating sustainable jobs for cleaner growth and a greener, more energy-efficient future. This year’s ENERGY STAR Canada award recipients are ambassadors of energy efficiency and examples of the value of investing in smart energy choices,” said the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources. “Congratulations to Samsung Electronics Canada in Mississauga, Ontario, as the recipient of the 2022 ENERGY STAR Canada Award for Special Recognition.”

With sustainability as one of its strategic pillars, Samsung Canada committed to increasing its range of certified products by creating 28 new models last year. Samsung’s ENERGY STAR certified product portfolio now includes 100 per cent of dishwashers, 100 per cent of refrigerators and front-load washers, as well as 60 per cent of top-load washers and 82 per cent of dryers.

Additionally, other notable Samsung accomplishments in 2021 include:

• Collaborated with Efficiency Manitoba to provide incentives to consumers who purchased ENERGY STAR certified products in addition to raising awareness on certified appliances and their benefits.
• Fully embraced social media to promote the ENERGY STAR brand, including participation in the ’12 Days of ENERGY STAR’ campaign, Efficiency Manitoba’s rebate program, as well as showcasing its 2021 ENERGY STAR Award.
• Continued training about the ENERGY STAR program both in-store and on its website, as well as training employees and raising awareness with an emphasis on on-site training.
• Prominently displayed promotional material highlighting certified products in its national retailer partner stores across Canada.

This is Samsung Canada’s twelfth ENERGY STAR Canada award. Previous wins include: Appliance Manufacturer of the Year (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021); Sustained Excellence (2020); Electronics Manufacturer of the Year (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018); “ENERGY STAR Most Efficient” Promoter of the Year 2015 (2016); Collaborative Initiative of the Year (2012).
