Samsung CSC codes: list by country and how CSC works
CSC is the three-letter code that tells a Galaxy which country and carrier it was made for. It decides the boot animation, preinstalled apps, which network features are switched on and, more importantly for firmware, which updates the phone is offered and when.
What CSC actually controls
CSC stands for Consumer Software Customization. It is a set of settings layered on top of the same Android build:
- Carrier features such as VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling and 5G bands for local networks.
- Preinstalled apps and the default language list.
- Camera shutter sound (forced on in some countries) and call recording availability.
- Which update server channel the phone belongs to. Two identical phones with different CSCs can get the same update weeks apart.
In the firmware package the CSC lives in its own file, which is why Odin has a separate CSC button. The flashing guide explains the difference between the CSC and HOME_CSC files.
How to find your CSC
- Settings, About phone, Software information, Service provider software version. You will see a line
like
SAOMC_SM-S918B_OXM_EUX_14_0011followed byEUX/EUX/EUX. - Or dial
*#1234#. The CSC line shows the CSC firmware version, for exampleS918BOXM.... - The box label and the Download mode screen on some models show it too.
Multi-CSC: OXM, EUX and the slash codes
Most current firmware does not carry a single region. The CSC file is a bundle of many regions, called a multi-CSC, and has its own code: OXM in the example above. The phone then uses one code from that bundle, EUX here. That is why the same package from this archive can be listed under several countries.
In EUX/EUX/EUX the first code is the one the phone is using now. The others record the codes
it was set to before or at the factory, so a phone bought abroad or reflashed can show different values.
US models work differently. Carrier phones (SM-S918U) and unlocked ones (SM-S918U1) share the hardware, but their firmware is split by carrier codes such as ATT, TMB and VZW, with XAA for the unlocked version.

Each model page has a region selector that lists every CSC available for that model with the number of builds, so you can check yours directly. For example, the Galaxy A52 (SM-A525F) has builds for dozens of regions.
Changing the CSC
People change the CSC to get updates sooner, to remove carrier apps, or because a phone bought abroad lacks features at home. Before you try, know the limits:
- It wipes the phone. A region change needs the full CSC file in Odin, not HOME_CSC.
- It works only within the same model number. SM-A525F firmware from any region fits an SM-A525F. It never turns a U model into a B model.
- The result depends on the model. If your current code is already part of the new package's multi-CSC, the phone can simply keep it. Many recent models stay on the code set at the factory.
- It does not remove a carrier SIM lock and does not change the IMEI or warranty region.
- The bootloader binary still applies. The new region's build must have the same or a higher binary than your phone. See the downgrade guide.
Apps that promise to switch the CSC with one tap need root or send your device to a paid remote service. Neither is needed to install official firmware for another region of your model.
Is there a "best" CSC?
The best CSC is the one for the country you use the phone in. That gives you working VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling with local carriers and the correct emergency settings. A different region might get a particular update a week earlier, but you trade it for carrier features that may not work. If you only want a newer build, install it manually for your own region.
